Third-party rights: contribution claims
The question before Master Brightwell in Riedweg v HCC International Insurance plc and Another [2024] EWHC 2805 (Ch); [2025] Lloyd's Rep IR 75 was whether a liability insurer facing a third-party claim following the insolvency of its assured can exercise contribution rights under the Civil Liability (Contribution) Act 1978 against others allegedly liable for the third party's loss.

Business interruption insurance: Covid-19 and non-damage denial of access cover
In International Entertainment Holdings Ltd and Others v Allianz Insurance plc [2024] EWCA Civ 1281; [2025] Lloyd's Rep IR 122 the Court of Appeal has rejected an appeal from some elements of the decision of Jacobs J in Gatwick Investment Ltd v Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe SE [2024] Lloyd's Rep IR Plus 44.

Business interruption insurance: causation
In London International Exhibition Centre plc v Allianz Insurance plc [2024] EWCA Civ 1026 the Court of Appeal has upheld the first instance decision of Jacobs J [2023] EWHC 1481 (Comm); [2024] Lloyd's Rep IR Plus 27, giving judgment in a series of six expedited test cases on claims under business interruption covers for Covid-19 losses.
