Still recovering from Floyd
While the official US hurricane season is set to start tomorrow, victims of last season‘s devastating Hurricane Floyd are
still recovering. Almost nine months after Floyd hit North and South Carolina - in some cases producing over 20 inches of
rain in 24 hours - hundreds of people are still camping out and preparing for the next onslaught. The widespread flooding
which resulted from Floyd last September claimed 52 lives and caused an estimated $6bn in damage in the worst hit region -
eastern North Carolina.
