Shipowners in the Straits of Malacca have been up in arms ever since Lloyd’s Market Association’s Joint War Committee (LMAJWC) declared in July 2005 that the Straits of Malacca is an area that is in jeopardy of ‘war, strikes, terrorism and related perils’.
