New powers for the Australian customs service

The Trade Modernisation Legislation will be the most comprehensive shake up of Australia’s customs laws since 1901. Tony Greenwood explains what TML will mean.

THE Australian Government has expanded the powers of the Australian Customs Service by the introduction of the Trade Modernisation Legislation (TML) which vastly amends the already powerful Customs Act 1901. TML is thought to be the biggest shake up of customs laws since Federation in 1901.
