Fraud Intelligence
Five minutes with the President
When the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners held its 9th Annual European conference in London recently, incoming UK Chapter President Paul Carratu took time out from a busy programme to speak to Fraud Intelligence editor Timon Molloy about his plans for the coming year and his wider views on combating fraud

FI: The ACFE has about 31,000 members worldwide, the vast majority in the United States I believe. How many are there in the UK and how does one join?
PC: There are around 600 active CFEs (Certified Fraud Examiners) and ACFEs (Associates of the organisation). In the past,
in order to become a CFE you had to enter on a points-type system; it was based on criteria such as whether you had a degree
and the sort of work you did. However, since January this year, qualification has been by examination.
