Member states set to learn of nationals’ EU convictions

A European Union (EU) member state that convicts a citizen of another EU country would have to advise the individual’s home state government of the prosecution under a European Commission proposal. Brussels has also tabled an obligation for EU governments to respond to requests about criminal records within five days.
