European warrant to speed evidence transfer

A European evidence warrant, proposed by the European Commission, would enable judicial authorities in one member state to order collection of information by law enforcement officers in another EU state. The warrants would bypass existing and often cumbersome mutual assistance rules but would exclude some classes of evidence such as body samples, real-time intercepts and expert reports. Electronic data would be covered.
