Compliance Monitor

What do you think of the show so far?

Last year Compliance Monitor joined forces with leading City recruitment consultancy Joslin Rowe to discover what compliance specialists thought about the impending post-N2 regime. These views (see ‘N2…no problem!?’ Compliance Monitor , October 2001), made fascinating and often explosive reading with many respondents talking about “ heavy workloads,” “the need for clear, straightforward guidance,” “remote monitoring” and “the possibility of a distinct shortage of people with the right skills.” One year on in the post-N2 world, and we thought that it would be timely to check again on what compliance professionals were thinking. Have there been skills shortages? Are senior managers aware of their responsibilities and how does the industry regard the Financial Services Authority? Through an online questionnaire we collated the views of over 100 compliance professionals from major financial institutions. Their anonymity was assured and there were some hard-hitting responses. This article summarises the survey’s key findings and offers a selection of the most compelling opinions.
