FSA E-COMMERCE: An emerging policy response
Dr G A Walker, Centre for Commercial Law Studies
The FSA published its policy document in connection with e-commerce on 11 June 2001 (see FSA, The FSA’s approach to the regulation
of e-commerce (June 2001)). The objective of the discussion paper is to develop a regulatory framework that can allow the
potential benefits for firms and consumers of e-commerce to be fully realised. The three key features or ‘outcomes’ dealt
with in the paper are IT systems and controls, consumer information and guidance and regulatory revision.
