The Lamfalussy Committee presents modest, but important, proposals

“The critical aspect is political will: if it exists, this approach will work”. These were the words of Alexandre Lamfalussy, chairman of the Committee of Wise Men on the regulation of European securities markets, when he recently presented the committee’s widely awaited interim report at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) at the end of last year.
