Catastrophe business currently accounts for around 30.0% of the reinsurance division’s income. However, the company learned some profound lessons in 2004 and 2005 and continues to grow the volume of its non-catastrophe exposed business

Although 2006 was easily the most profitable year for the global property and casualty insurance industry over the last 15 years, few insurance organisations profited more from prevailing market conditions than the Bermuda based, Axis Capital Holdings. The company increased its net income from US$94.4mn in 2005 to $963.0mn in 2006.
