Angola: twenty-five people died in Angola when the aircraft they were travelling in crashed in the mountains near the second city of Huambo. The aircraft went down in bad weather as it was nearing the airport in Huambo about an hour after taking off from Luanda. The aircraft was headed for Huambo city, about 450 kilometres southeast of the capital, Luanda. Among the deceased was the owner of the aircraft, a prominent businessman and a senior member of Angola’s ruling party. The twin propeller King Air B200 aircraft belonged to private company Gira Globo, owned by Anoes, which operates chartered flights in Angola. The aircraft crashed about 100 miles north of its destination in the central highland city of Huambo.
