Assicurazioni Generali
Despite the group’s rapid expansion into the emerging markets of central and eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America in recent years, Generali, as demonstrated by the acquisition of Toro in Italy, remains alert to new opportunities in its traditonal markets
Italian insurance group,
Generali increased its net profit result by an impressive 25.3% from €1.9bn in 2005 to €2.4bn in 2006. While
Generali’s life insurance division (by far the biggest of the group’s three main businesses) generated nearly a quarter of the 2006
net profits, it was the underwriting performance of the much smaller non-life division which contributed most to the year-on-year
increase in
Generali’s bottom line result.
