22.2, Kentucky crash, court case

US: Comair sued the federal government over last summer’s plane crash in Kentucky that killed 49 people. The Delta regional airline based in the Cincinnati area said the Federal Aviation Administration was negligent in having only one air traffic controller on duty at the airport in Lexington. Comair Flight 51-91 (Bombardier CRJ-100 N431CA) mistakenly turned onto a runway that was too short, struggled to get airborne and went down in a field early on Aug 27. The co-pilot of the plane was the sole survivor. Comair claims the FAA failed to properly staff the control tower with two air traffic controllers that morning.
