Mississippi AG measures to prevent insurer’s withdrawal fail

The state’s governor says he has no authority to force a private company to sell property insurance

An attempt by Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood to introduce emergency legislation to stop Illinois-based property/casualty insurer State Farm from withdrawing from the state’s homeowners and commercial property insurance market appears to have stalled after it failed to get the backing of the state’s governor.
