European Parliament and Commission feud over motor claims law

MEPs argue that a court should be able to apply the motor accident victim’s national law to calculate damages

The European Parliament has demanded direct negotiations with ministers over a contested proposal to simplify cross-border motor insurance claims. MEPs want to give courts the chance to pay heed to the laws of the victim’s home state in calculating damages.
