A generation of change in a blink of an eye
If you had slipped off on that long promised, well-earned 12 month sabbatical, you would, quite naturally, expect to come
back to a business that had changed. New faces, new products, new ideas, new acronyms. New catastrophes, new capital, new
start-ups and new scandals. But one thing you could always comfortably expect to remain unchanged is progress towards electronic
trading - perhaps it would have inched forwards, but barley even noticeably. But such have been the radical events that have
reconfigured the market landscape in respect of electronic business over the last year, says
Alex Letts,
chief executive of reinsurance platform RI3K, that if your sabbatical had been from Monte Carlo 2005 to this year, you might
think that you had been away for a generation.
