Earnings strengthen despite stagnant premium growth in Q1 2006
Non-life remains only one-third of life insurance business, not helped by the 25% drop in premiums by RS&A’s acquisition
Though premium growth was stagnant, Chilean insurers turned in good earnings during the first quarter of 2006. Total premiums,
at US$1.07bn, were 0.2% down on the same period of 2005, with non-life (up 3.3% to US$310mn) doing better than life insurance
(down 1.6% at US$757mn).
