Regulator defends solvency rules

New non-life insurance companies in Ireland must have a solvency margin of at least twice the EU minimum for their first three years of operation

Ireland’s solvency requirements are not an obstacle to new companies entering the market, according to Patrick Neary, chief executive of the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority (IFSRA).
