3.5, crash, fatalities
Japan: a tandem aircraft crashed and burst into flames on a runway at Tajima Airport in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, just
after takeoff, killing both people on board. The two killed were members of a local aero club. The private aircraft was one
of two aircraft planning to fly to an airport in Nagasaki Prefecture by way of Kitakyushu City. The aircraft lost momentum
right after takeoff and plunged onto the runway, where it exploded into flames. The companion aircraft was waiting for permission
to take off at the time of the accident.
