Japan: a tandem aircraft crashed and burst into flames on a runway at Tajima Airport in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, just after takeoff, killing both people on board. The two killed were members of a local aero club. The private aircraft was one of two aircraft planning to fly to an airport in Nagasaki Prefecture by way of Kitakyushu City. The aircraft lost momentum right after takeoff and plunged onto the runway, where it exploded into flames. The companion aircraft was waiting for permission to take off at the time of the accident.
