Reinsurers’ first quarter results exposed a clear distinction between those companies which have either curtailed their catastrophe
exposure in response to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma (KRW) or are holding out for even better rates and those which
decided that the business was profitable enough at 1 January.
