Aegon forced to issue profit warning

The Dutch insurer Aegon has been forced to issue a profit warning as a result of tough conditions in the US market and the strength of the euro. The company has said that 2002 profits could be as much as 35% below the €2.4bn (US$2.41 billion) it reported in 2001.
