Taiwan slams war charges

The government in Taiwan has asked airlines to stop charging for war risk cover on domestic flights. Since 11 September all airlines have added a war risk insurance fee on tickets. The government offered US$50mn at the end of last year as a guarantee for the insurance but the market returned to normal and the offer was withdrawn. The government argued that Taiwan is at little risk from terrorist attacks and it is therefore unfair to continue the charges.
