Governors in three Midwestern states have asked the US federal government for nearly US$200mn in disaster aid to cover damages and costs related to last month’s storms. The federal government normally pays 75% of public disaster aid, and the local and state governments fund the rest. Kansas and Oklahoma have asked for full federal relief and Missouri is seeking 90%.
