US more at risk from hurricanes than ever

The US has experienced the most active period of hurricanes on record over the last six years, with the number of storms and hurricanes striking the Atlantic this year expecting to be 20-30% above the 1991-2000 average, according to the Tropical Risk Research consultancy. However, despite these predictions, insurance companies are not expected to rush out and buy more reinsurance.
