Insurers in breach of transparency rules
India’s insurance regulator has pulled up the four state-run general insurers for lack of transparency in their dealings and
for failing to furnish adequate information on a variety of issues, including their claims settlement decisions. The Insurance
Regulatory & Development Authority (IRDA) slapped notices on National Insurance, Oriental Insurance, New India Insurance and
United India Assurance – but was far from satisfied by the replies given by them.
