Insurers in breach of transparency rules

India’s insurance regulator has pulled up the four state-run general insurers for lack of transparency in their dealings and for failing to furnish adequate information on a variety of issues, including their claims settlement decisions. The Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority (IRDA) slapped notices on National Insurance, Oriental Insurance, New India Insurance and United India Assurance – but was far from satisfied by the replies given by them.
