Mexican insurance
The Mexican financial services authorities and insurance industry chiefs have formed a joint commission to discuss the best
way to implement proposed changes to Mexico s insurance laws. The changes are part of a government plan to reform the entire
financial services sector. However, things have changed in Mexico. It is no longer a
de facto
one-party state. For the bill to be passed by a Congress controlled by the opposition party, it is now vitally important the
government reaches solid agreements with insurance industry chiefs and other financial services sector representatives on
the shape and scope of the new laws.
