Recasting the rules for life cover
Proposals to streamline EU legislation on life assurance seem likely to secure speedy enactment — and a recast of European
non-life insurance law is now likely. The reworking of life assurance legislation emerged unamended from a first reading debate
in the European Parliament on 15 March. Ministers representing the 15 EU state governments are thought unlikely to raise any
objection to the European Commission s proposal, so the measure is likely to be enacted within weeks, without further debate.
