NRMA board at war
Infighting continues to plague Australias largest general insurer, NRMA. The latest spat involves the companys chairman Nick
Whitlam and fellow board member Anne Keating. In a report prepared by Queens Counsel Robert McDougall, Ms Keating and Robert
Dempsey — a former strategic consultant to the company — are understood to be named as the sources of leaks to the media about
a confidential board report critical of Mr Whitlams behaviour at the 1998 annual general meeting
(WIR 653/1).
The report into the leaks allegedly cost A$300,000 (US$155,000) to prepare.
