Half-year US reinsurance results

The main message from the recent spate of reinsurers’ interim results was a blunt one for an industry desperately wanting good news: there is still some way to go before the market turns and embarks on the long road to recovery. But while it is true that reinsurers’ balance sheets continue to bear the brunt of the adverse trends (catastrophe losses, poor claims experience and pricing) currently besetting global insurance, there have been some encouraging signs.
