Merging the German mutuals

Signal Iduna, the mutual group which sprang from the merger of Signal, Dortmund, and Iduna Nova, Hamburg, is having talks with other mutuals over further mergers, chief executive Reinhold Schulte confirmed to WIR . This follows a successful deal with Münchener Verein, the Bavarian mutual. Mr Schulte said that in the current round of talks, the circle of interested parties was wider than that of insurers focusing on craftsmen and small businesses, the core business of Signal Iduna and Münchener Verein.
