Unipol

Italian insurer Unipol has acquired northern Italian retail insurer Duomo Assucurazioni from Vecchia Mutua Grandine ed Eguaglianza and France’s Mutuelles du Mans in a L260bn (US$125mn) deal. The latest acquisition follows Unipol’s April purchases of MEIE Assicurazioni together with its life operation MEIE Vita from Telecom Italia and Aurora and Navale from Generali. Unipol is financing the purchases with issues of both shares and bonds intended to raise more than L1.2tn.
