Dentist failed to spot gum disease

A woman has won an out-of-court settlement of £13,500 after a dentist failed to notice that she had been suffering from gum disease for many years. The private dentist had been treating her for 10 years. Her teeth had rotted away underneath the crowns which the dentist had fitted. It cost her £8,000 to have them replaced. The dentist was found guilty of professional misconduct by the General Dental Council.
