NHSLA reveals true number of MRSA cases
It has been revealed that the number of cases in which the NHS has paid out in hospital-acquired infection compensation claims
is 10 times higher than previously thought. Figures from the NHS Litigation Authority figures show there have been 68 cases,
costing the NHS a total of more than £8mn. The NHSLA had previously said there had been just seven cases in the past four
years. Most of the cases are thought to be related to MRSA. Around 55 of the cases have come in the past two years. Over £5mn
has been paid out in damages and £3mn in costs during the four years.
