Compensation payments to teachers in Scotland

Figures released by the Educational Institute of Scotland, the largest teaching union in Scotland, show that in the last year, injuries to teachers and lecturers resulting from accidents or assaults during working hours have lead to total compensation payouts (including legal expenses) of around quarter of a million pounds. The number of serious incidents and the level of compensation awarded has remained almost unchanged since last year.
