Cancer misdiagnosis compensation

The family of a woman who was misdiagnosed with cancer has received £10,000 in compensation from an NHS hospital trust. The woman, who had already survived breast cancer, spent a number of years believing she was dying from bone cancer. She died after getting drunk on her birthday and falling down the stairs at home and fracturing her ribs. Only after her death was it discovered that she did not have bone cancer. The NHS trust made the settlement before the case went to court, but did not admit liability. The family believe that the cancer diagnosis and treatment, may have affected the treatment for her fall injuries, and contributed to her death.
