Widow awarded extra after Compensation Act amendment
A widow has been awarded more than £103,000 in compensation for her husband’s death from mesothelioma following exposure to
asbestos in his workplace. She was originally awarded just £20,000 of a £140,000 compensation claim, because of the new rules
brought in last May, under which claimants would only receive a percentage of their compensation where not all of the employers
could be found. Following an amendment to the Compensation Act, she appealed against her original compensation award.
