Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease compensation
A 69-year-old man with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) has received over £100,000 in compensation from the Department
of Trade and Industry. The ex-miner worked for British Coal from the age of 15 as a power loader, working on the coal face
with the cutting machines. At 37 he stopped working in the pits on his doctor’s advice after being diagnosed with emphysema.
