NZ accident compensation monopoly reinstated

The New Zealand government’s reinstallment of ACC’s monopoly in the workplace accident sector will not result in higher levies, according to Finance Minister Michael Cullen. At present private insurers and a small state-owned firm currently compete for the NZ$500mn in annual premiums following the previous government’s ending of state-owned ACC’s monopoly less than a year ago in July 1999.
