US D&O liability claims awards

The 1999 Directors and Officers Liability Survey by Tillinghast – Towers Perrin shows that the average size of a shareholder D&O liability claim award rose to a highest ever US$8.67mn while the overall pricing for D&O cover declined for the fourth consecutive year. However, high-tech and biotech companies of recent initial public offerings bucked the trend, some posting substantial premium increases.
