‘Disgracefully sloppy’
Former Bank of Scotland mortgage contracts were described as ‘disgracefully sloppy’ in a Court of Appeal ruling, overturning
a High Court repossession decision. Lamir Ladjadj and his family ran into financial difficulties and, after ten years, found
they owed almost £100,000 more than the £157,674 they borrowed. Further castigated as so complex they made ‘little sense’
to borrowers the bank was ordered to pay £40,000 costs but retrial set aside as both sides had agreed to try mediation.
