Negligent entrustment rejected
Judge Stephen Schiller of Illinois Cook County Circuit Court has rejected part of the City of Chicago’s suit against gun manufacturers.
Held that the principle of negligence invoked, on distribution of firearms, could be applied only to plaintiffs as private
citizens. A government entity could not claim damages under the theory of negligent entrustment.
