American Home Products – working on a mega-settlement deal with Fen-Phen drug claimants – has settled an individual wrongful
death suit of US$10mn. This arises from the death of Mary Linnen from a rare lung disease after taking the drug Pondimin for
a few weeks in 1996. The suit claimed that the company had failed to adequately warn dieters of potential risks.
