Contaminated fuel

The contamination of aircraft fuel from Exxon Mobil in Australia becomes murkier. Class actions have been launched on behalf of an estimated 5,000 operators of civil aircraft, grounded, in some cases, for weeks, seeking at least A$100mn. Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) believes the numbers affected will be less, having so far received only 1,500 notifications of contamination. While noting that many operators had not yet filed claims, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia (AOPAA) concurred.
