NFUM excludes GM crop risk

Leading UK farm insurer NFU Mutual said not to offer cover for genetically-modified crop contamination risks. This is based on a letter, publicised by environmental organisation Friends of the Earth, from NFUM to a Lincolnshire farmer saying it could not offer insurance for the loss of GM-free status, the potential loss of crops through cross-pollination and the loss of the value of farmland through GM pollution.
