No duty of care to stop

A motorist was not required to stop to allow pedestrians who had crossed to the middle of the road to complete their crossing. A four year old pedestrian was hit by a driver and sustained serious injury when she ran into the road in front of her vehicle. The child had been part of a group of pedestrians that had crossed to the middle of the road and had then run out in front of the car.
