Man sues for prison attack

The Home Office is being sued for £2mn in damages by a man who was attacked while working in a young offenders’ institution. The man was an instructor and was attacked in the building workshop by two escaping inmates who hit him with a hammer. As a result he suffered brain damage. He is claiming that he should have had better protection. It was reported that the Home Office has agreed to pay 95% of a full assessment of the claim, but is disputing the amount of the payout.
