Part-time lecturer wins compensation for unequal pay
A university has paid £25,000 in compensation to a part-time lecturer who earned less than her full-time colleagues, despite
in fact working longer hours. She was also awarded a full time contract. Her case was backed by the lecturers’ union NATFHE.
It was reported that in one year, she taught for 700 hours, compared with 550 hours taught by full time lecturers, but she
earned around £10,000 less.
