Racial harassment and discrimination award

A council worker who suffered racial harassment and discrimination has been awarded £82,000 compensation. The housing officer was passed over for promotion seven times during a two-year period. She had challenged a decision to house a white family before an Asian family who were higher up the housing list. The council said it was considering appealing against the level of compensation awarded.
