Head cooling can reduce infant brain damage

A report in The Lancet suggests that cooling the head of babies that suffer from oxygen deprivation at birth can help to reduce brain damage. The report, “Selective head cooling with mild systemic hypothermia after neonatal encephalopathy,” discussed a study to find out if delayed head cooling “can improve neurodevelopmental outcome in babies with neonatal encephalopathy.”
